May 2008

Hi all,

All is good at the Shears Inn, especially now that our ranking has moved to number four. Well done to all my Fabulous staff and patrons.

I would like to welcome two new staff members Kersley and Brenwin. It has been a tough start for them thinking that a country Inn is actually quite. So far thanks for the effort and it will get easier as time moves on.

Thanks to all my existing staff for there amazing effort and support through some tough but rewarding times. We don’t always see eye to eye but at least the results are evident. Big thank you!

Remember the staff party this Sunday!

Some feed back on product, the waffles are in full swing and selling well from the black boards. We ditched the idea of the bakery as our kitchen is just far too small. But, we are baking our own bread for the restaurant. This is going down so well, especially with the daily sandwich menu and bread and oils.

“We are also planning to raise money for the NSPCC. This will include a squash marathon and cycle ride. So please watch this space as there are many abused and homeless children that require assistance.

We put on hold the NSPCC idea for a short while as one of our customers had a life threatening accident a few months ago and is in hospital under going treatment for a back injury.

Through the efforts of Johnny our manager and staff through The Shears beautiful Patrons it looks like we have raised a handsome £3 000, 00 and climbing for Speedy. This is being done by Johnny under going 10 weeks of nil per mouth of alcohol and being sponsored pounds for ponds in weight lost. The weigh in is on the 29.6.8 at The Shears, all are welcome and it is going to be a fun filled event. Well done Johnny.

Speedy get well soon dude, we look forward to welcoming you back at the Shears! Our prayers and thoughts are with you every day!

We have installed the WII Games in the Bar for all to have fun with. So far so good, looks like it will be a hit.

Summer is here and our new summer menu is in place with some amazing salads, my favourite being the Tropical Caesar Salad. Take a look at the Restaurant page. The patio garden is ready, trimmed and looking good for the hot summer days ahead.

On the weekends of the 14th and 15th June 2008 we are introducing our very first Beer and Music Family Festival. All we waiting for now is the approval from the authorities for the temporary event.

If all is well we will be having live bands, hog and venison roast, bouncy castle, bungee-jump, children’s games and entertainment, bucking bronco, beer and wine tasting, plenty of food, a mini-disco for the children on Sunday, being fathers day on Sunday Dads will get a really special meal and beer deal and plenty more!

Do not forget on Sundays we serve food from 12h00 all the way through to 21h30. This includes our amazingly popular roasts.

Well folks back to work, keep well and look forward to seeing everyone at The Shears.

Big Love,

Richard and his Amazing Team!
